Recently the "Australian Orienteer" ran an article about a Junior competitor
who ended up in hospital in January. The situation was generated by an
unfortunate set of circumstances; hot weather, too little water on the
course, not drinking after the event because drink was locked in another
car, etc etc. At this stage he's badly dehydrated and suffering a headache.
When he did get to drink after a couple of hours he tried to overcompensate,
and ended up dangerously thinning his blood (hyponatremia). He was very very
sick indeed and ended up in hospital twice, once from the condition, and
again a day later from complications caused by it.
Luckily he survived with no long term effects.

If you're able to get hold of a copy it's well worth a read. It's also got
an Region-3 ARDF report from yours truly :)

Cheers,
Bruce
