I clutter up my map with initial bearings, and that places too much

I TAKE a lot more bearings than I PLOT. I generally have no more than ten
lines drawn on my map. My rules for when to plot a bearing:

1) Does the bearing seem trustworthy? (Based on signal strength, my
elevation, only one peak direction, etc.)
2) Is the bearing useful? (Do I need a bearing from that angle? Do I
already know about where that transmitter is? etc.)

If the answer is yes to both questions, then I invest the 15 seconds it
might take me to plot it. I draw each bearing as a straight line from my
position all the way to the edge of the map, and if it looks like I could
confuse it with a line drawn for another transmitter I write the
transmitter number near the map edge so it doesn't clutter the map.
