You may be interested in a new 2m receiver design for IARU ARDF by 
Dave G3ZOI. The DFing worldwide community seems lacking in up-to- date
designs using components that are readily available and which 
provide a low-cost solution with sufficient sensitivity and 
selectivity.

The design has iterated through several prototypes, has been fully 
tested, used successfully by complete novices to find IARU 
transmitters and seems to meet its design brief admirably.

The cost of components to build a complete unit is under £30, US$47, CAD$70,
AUD$77, EUR43. 

Depending on the level of interest, kits or fully built units may be 
considered.
